As we enter the New Year, Scandinavian singer-songwriter Rikke announces the release of her album Not Even Air Can Come Between Us Now on 7th March & shares the track We Collide from it – a song about misunderstandings that can happen when texting as opposed to communicating directly face to face.

Already a household name in Norway after performing with John Legend at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert plus her regular appearances on the popular reality show Hver gang vi møtes (Every Time We Meet), Rikke uses her impressive vocal range to great effect on We Collide. From the exhilaratingly high falsetto line “I don’t know how I don’t know when knowing how you feel about things” to the crushingly low “we collide, we collide, we collide” on the outro, her vocals walk the listener through section by section of distinctive melodies over a tasteful alt-pop arrangement.

With lyrics that are close to Rikke’s heart, she explains the inspiration behind the song… “some of us are shy of conflict & feel uneasy when talking about things in person, but when expressing yourself in text, people can easily misunderstand you, take things the wrong way & that’s when the blame game starts. In the long run, we all need to take responsibility for our own actions, & if that means letting go of destructive relationships, no matter how hard that may be, in order to set realistic boundaries then so be it for the best”.

Rikke built a reputation as the ‘go-to backing vocalist’ for established Norwegian artists which led to her touring Europe & then being handpicked to sing with John Legend at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert. However, it was when she joined the Norwegian Idol house band for 5 seasons & featured in the national reality TV show Hver gang vi møtes (in which she still appears), that Rikke became a household name throughout Norway.

As for her own music, Rikke reached the semi-finals of the Norwegian Eurovision with her own song & then began releasing music on her own Rikkeleaks label. She’s enjoyed exposure on Norway’s premiere digital station NRK P3 as well as being popular with audiences in Brazil Her musical influences range from Björk to Bon Iver & Rikke loves to compose songs in solitude on a 100-year-old grand piano in her Oslo apartment.

With performances at festivals like: Larm (Norway), Live At Heart & Future Echoes (Sweden), plus the iconic Ronnie Scott’s (UK) Rikke has shown herself to be a truly accomplished musician & creative on all fronts. With the release of her intriguingly titled album Not Even Air Can Come Between Us Now this spring, 2025 looks to be a year of saying goodbye to past conflicts & on to new pastures for this highly individual artist.
