Straight out of North Lincolnshire, youthful indie-punk band Poets Corner shares their banging debut Over And Over – a track about the struggle of coming to terms with your part in relationships while blaming the other side.

Released via Hull’s renowned record label/youth centre Warren Records, the track was produced by local ‘sonic wizard’ Connor Haggarty at Scunthorpe’s Woodley Moss Studios. With its garage-rock style guitars, Over And Over’s street-wise & edgy production harks back to the seminal days of early punk – and the addition of a lo-fi Farfisa-style organ, that pokes its head out from time to time, brings a certain charm to the record.

The band’s lead vocalist Cayden explains how.

The making of this record was our first experience of being in a recording studio but that naivety worked to our advantage, giving the release a real spontaneous & unplanned feel. On the other hand, Over And Over means a huge amount to each of us, as we all have the same dream of being in a successful band & this is the first step in a journey towards accomplishing that dream.

Citing a spread of influences that includes The Reytons, Arctic Monkeys, The Stone Roses plus Catfish And The Bottlemen, five-piece Poets Corner comprises Cayden Oram (vocals/guitar), Oliver Lindle (vocals/keys), Oakley Gorman (backing vocals / Guitar), George Elderkin (drums) & Robbie Yates (bass).

Each hailing from different corners of Lincolnshire County, the band was formed in September 2023 when all members had chosen the same music course at Scunthorpe’s North Lindsey College. Motivated to make fresh and exciting new music that they could play live, these unlikely strangers were thrown together by their college tutor, and soon, Poets Corner was a reality, out there exciting audiences throughout the area—a big thanks to that tutor!

The band recently celebrated the release of Over And Over at their local venue Café Indie in Scunthorpe & have an upcoming gig at Hull’s New Adelphi Club with The Outcharms on 24th October. They also return to Café Indie for a pre-Christmas celebration on 21st December.
Be sure to check out their socials for updates & future gig announcements as this emerging fun young band plans to build on the success of their debut single with further releases throughout 2025 – Get in!
