Fresh off the success of their latest EP, Bones, which garnered over 2,000,000 streams, Catlea (they/them) has returned in full force with the release of their highly anticipated debut album, Language Barrier. Since they started releasing music, Catlea has long been known to span the worlds of indie pop and rock, and their latest offering intertwines these perfectly. The lead single, ‘Why Them?’, is a reflective and expertly crafted composition driven by catchy melodies and infectious hooks. The single and the album highlight Catlea’s unwavering dedication to complex and meaningful musical narratives.

Catlea spent three years meticulously writing, producing, and perfecting ten new indie-pop songs for their new album, working closely with producer Jason Boshoff (Ed Sheeran, Josh Groban, David Gray, Rufus Wainwright) and Oscar Garcia-Bragado of Room to Studios in Barcelona, Spain. Language Barrier takes the listener through the breakdown of a relationship, about the struggle to communicate, and how this further complicates complex feelings and messy situations. Catlea triumphs, though, and finds their voice in the process. As Catlea takes us on the journey of their album, they are also navigating a path from anger to acceptance, all while presenting it in a beautifully crafted collection.

Having previously received critical acclaim across various music voices and outlets, including Notion, Wonderlan,d, and Earmilk, Catlea is sure to receive similar if not higher praise for Language Barrier, considering their continued dedication and evolving exposure. Their fans are a testament to this as well; with over 10 million streams and more than a million views on YouTube, Catlea shows that they are able to please both fans and critics alike.
