London-based indie band Bedhed have released their debut single ‘Holding Their Breath’, two decades after forming.
After coming agonisingly close to achieving success in the ‘90s, Bedhed never quite made it. Having been offered a development deal with Universal Records the four-piece demo toured the UK extensively. It was a tantalising glimpse of the future they dreamed of. But when their breakthrough failed to materialise, Bedhed succumbed to the bane of so many aspiring bands: life.
Busy with jobs and families, Joel (vocals), Jon (drums), Al (bass & bvs) and Rob (guitar) never gave up on their dream of making the album they’ve been carrying around in their heads. So when a friend introduced Bedhed to esteemed producer Tom Nichols at the world-famous Metropolis Studios in London in 2022 his belief in the band was to serve as a “now or never” catalyst.
With Nichols at the helm, Bedhed dusted down their songs and finally recorded their album, ‘An Honest Lie’, which is now due for release on 1st September 2023 on the independent label Last Man Media.Debut single Holding Their Breath captures the energy and spirit of Bedhed’s live shows from back in the day, with a respectful nod to the likes of The Smiths, The Cure, and The Jesus and Mary Chain, as well as transatlantic influences such as Lemonheads and Kings of Leon.
Holding Their Breath is about life’s sliding door moments; the feeling when you’re watching a coin spin before it falls…it could go either way. – Bedhed’s frontman Joel
We are so excited to finally be releasing our first single, let alone our debut album. As a band it feels like we’ve been holding our breath for twenty years. We can finally exhale. – Guitarist Rob
