What is Fan Quest?
Fan Quest is Channel R’s fan-powered chart featuring 20 artists at a time. Listeners support their favorite artists all week long by earning points through voting and app actions.
Every Sunday, all points are tallied, the Top 10 artists are revealed, and the #1 artist becomes the Quest Champ, earning bonus airplay on Channel R for the week ahead.
How do I earn points?
You can earn points for your favorite artist in multiple ways throughout the week. Website votes earn points daily, while app actions like Power Votes, song requests, and alerts earn even more. The Channel R Radio App (available for both iPhone & Android). Following Channel R on social media also earns bonus points. Every action adds up toward your artist’s weekly Fan Quest total.
What’s a Power Vote?
A Power Vote is an in-app vote that carries more weight than a website vote. Power Votes are designed to reward app users with greater impact. You can cast up to four Power Votes per day on the Channel R Radio App (available for both iPhone & Android), making them one of the most effective ways to help your artist climb the Fan Quest chart.
What’s a Request Boost?
When you request a song by your favorite artist in the Channel R app, that request earns extra points for the artist. Request Boosts allow fans to support artists by engaging with the music they love — and they directly influence Fan Quest standings.

What’s an Alert Boost?
Alert Boosts reward fans for staying connected to their favorite artist’s music. When you tap Notify on a song while it is playing in the app, you’ll get a push alert the next time it plays — and your artist earns points. You can set alerts on up to three songs per artist, making this a great way to support new releases and fan favorites.

When is the Top 10 announced?
The Fan Quest Top 10 is revealed every Sunday during the Fan Quest Countdown on Channel R. This countdown shows where artists finished for the week and announces the new Quest Champ. Once the countdown airs, points reset and a new Fan Quest week begins.
What is a Quest Champ?
The Quest Champ is the #1 artist of the week on Fan Quest. This title is earned entirely through fan support. Once crowned, the Quest Champ receives bonus airplay throughout the following week, including special daily features like Triple Play Day, Double Shot Day, and the Weekend Takeover. What is the Champion Song?
Each artist has a designated Champion Song, which is the track tied to their Fan Quest reward. When artists release new music or have multiple active songs, fans help choose the Champion Song through a quick vote. When the artist becomes Quest Champ, this song receives the primary bonus airplay. Fan Groups may also message Channel R to request a specific Champion Song.
Can artists drop out of Fan Quest?
Yes. Artists may rotate out of Fan Quest from time to time. Fan Quest is designed to stay fresh and focused on current music and active fan engagement. Artists may be removed if they are no longer releasing new music, have low fan activity, or when new artists are added to make room in the lineup.
When an artist drops out, their points reset and they are no longer eligible for the weekly countdown. However, artists can always return to Fan Quest in the future — especially when new music drops or fan demand increases.
Can new artists be added anytime?
Yes. New artists can be added to Fan Quest at any time — especially when new music drops or fan demand spikes. When an artist is added, they start fresh with zero points and can begin climbing immediately through fan support. There’s no waiting period.
Fan Groups may message Channel R to request the addition of an artist.
Do I have to use the app to participate?
No. You can participate by voting on the website and following Channel R on social media. However, the Channel R app unlocks the most powerful ways to earn points, including Power Votes, Request Boosts, and Alert Boosts.
