On the next Discover Spotlight, on Sunday February 19th at 9.30am PT/12.30pm ET/5.30pm BST, Tara speaks with Ruby & Pete from President Street, an Australian duo making waves in the UK. We talked about writing and recording the modern funk-inspired single “Tell Me Brother,” their songwriting process, making their mini album expected this year and more.

President Street are Melbourne-based duo, Ruby and Pete. With their recent focus solely on the UK; the band has seen 3 songs smash the Top 10 Official UK Music Week Charts and complete a national UK tour across the O2 Theatres in support of pop-rock-soul icon Roachford.

Extensive radio coverage saw their songs added to over 130 stations across the UK and included them being featured artists on the prestigious music program BBC The Beat. Coupled with strong club support and wide coverage in numerous influential lifestyle and music mags such as Wonderland and Rollacoaster, the duo have been dubbed as “the ones to watch” and it’s fair to say that President Street has certainly made a splash across the pond.

Now ready to share their music with Australian audiences, President Street brings a track recorded and co-produced in England with the legendary Ash Howes (Kylie, 5SOS, One Direction, Ellie Goulding) showcases their musical diversity with their first cover ‘She Drives Me Crazy’

Originally released by the English group Fine Young Cannibals, the song was a global smash back in the day reaching number 1 on the Australian charts in 1989. President Street delivers a modern version that brings an infectious and energising pop/dance vibe to an absolute classic. Driving beats, funky bass, and a light yet punchy vocal ensure this track will be the song of the summer.

When recording their version, the duo was very focused on paying justice to the original song but also making sure that they gave it enough of a twist to make it jump in its own right. The result is a banger that will keep you coming back for more!

After a huge few years in the UK, it’s now time for President Street to light up the airwaves back home in Oz and for Aussie listeners to take a stroll down President Street and see what the fuss is all about

Listen to this song and more emerging artists just like this one on “Discover”, playing Sundays at 10 am PT/1 pm ET on Channel R – Today’s Hits & Your All-Time Favorites.
