HOLiDAY MYSTICS – Deliberance

Deliberance: a made-up word combining ‘deliberate’ & ‘ignorance’ is the title of the new single from Tasmanian alt-rock outfit HOLiDAY MYSTICS. With its heartfelt vocals & strong lyrical imagery, the spiritually uplifting Deliberance tells the age-old story of a brotherly feud & of opposing forces in our world – with a shift of perspective comes the realisation that we’re all the same.

Following a name change (from HOLiDAY) & a UK tour last Autumnn promoting their previous single release WOA, which received love & support from Radio X’s John Kennedy, BBC Introducing & Amazing Radio (an Audition Show Winner too), the band has been back in Australia performing at Tasmania’s very own Great Escape Festival and feverishly writing new material including this latest vibrant gem of a track Deliberance.

Sung as a dynamic male & female duet, their soaring vocals create a Sia meets Coldplay moment that lifts the song to another realm leaving the listener contemplating the world we all live in & humanity’s relationship with itself – powerful stuff!

Lead vocalist Jesse explains: “Initially written 10 years ago while touring in a previous band with my brother, we had a serious fight where he broke my nose Our infamous altercations were frequent & immensely frustrating… this was the pinnacle & thankfully the end. Something changed after that moment as we finally saw each other’s perspectives & the bigger picture. We can all choose this path or stay in a collective ‘deliberate ignorance’… & so the song was born”.

Romantically referenced as ‘the lovechild of Florence & The Machine & Foals’, HOLiDAY MYSTICS unapologetically merge gritty alt-rock with heartfelt mystic pop. The lineup is Meg Hitchcock – vocals, synths, guitar, Jesse Higgs  – vocals, guitar & bass, Michael Townsend (T) -bass, guitar & synths + Savannah Higgs (Sav) – drums & percussion. Currently working alongside GRAMMY nominated & ARIA award-winning producer Adrian Breakspear (Pharrell, Coldplay, Gang of Youths, Amy Shark), 2024 has been shaping up well for the band with much excitement around their new material.

Jesse, Michael & Sav have been writing & performing music together for a while in various bands, but it was after Meg joined the band (& family) that HOLiDAY MYSTICS was truly born. The rougher-raw emotion of Jesse’s voice combines with the beauty & feminine power of Meg’s to shine out as a main feature. Following their highly successful UK/EU tour to promote their previous single WOA last year, the charismatic HOLiDAY MYSTICS have already supported Australian chart toppers The Jungle Giants & electropop maestro Boo Seeka this year. Now they return to the UK for a promotional tour around the latest release Deliberance.
